Chapter 8 - Everyone Had a Plan for My Money

Word about the possible share sale leaked.

Suddenly everyone became a financial adviser.

Trevor suggested rental properties.

Denise recommended paying off family debts.

Mom stayed silent.

That surprised me.

Eventually she said, “I don’t get a vote.”

“No.”

She nodded.

“I’m learning.”

It wasn’t an apology.

But it was progress.

I met with independent financial professionals and Jonathan.

I decided not to make any sudden lifestyle changes.

No sports car.

No mansion.

No social-media victory lap.

Instead, I created a reserve for the Victorian house, diversified investments, and established a modest charitable fund in my grandparents’ names.

When Denise heard about the charity, she became furious.

“You’ll help strangers before family?”

“I’ll help people when I choose to.”

“We’re your blood.”

“And that doesn’t create an invoice.”

She left angry.

Three days later, someone damaged the trust plaque beside the property gate.

It might have been random.

It might not.

I installed cameras.

Then one camera captured something unexpected.

At 2:13 the following morning, a vehicle stopped outside.

Someone stepped out.

They walked toward the house.

And when I zoomed in on the face, my stomach dropped.

May you like

It was someone from my family.
