Chapter 15 - The Truth About His Brother

Before the wedding, Ruth revealed one final piece of Samuel's story.
Samuel had planned to leave Silver Creek after exposing Crowe.
He had purchased land farther north.
“For whom?” Elias asked.
Ruth smiled.
“You.”
Elias stared.
Samuel had known his brother was becoming hardened even before his death.
He wanted them to start again somewhere new.
The deed was still valid.
Elias could have sold North Ridge and moved.
Instead, he transferred Samuel's unused property into a trust supporting Creek House.
Aayoka watched him sign.
“You sure?”
“Yes.”
“Samuel bought it for you.”
“He bought it because he wanted me to have a life.”
Elias looked around.
“I do.”
That was the truth about Samuel.
His final gift was never land.
It was the evidence that eventually forced Elias to confront what fear had made of him.
Samuel's death had broken Elias.
Micah's birth had not magically repaired him.
Elias repaired himself, choice by choice.
Stay.
Speak.
Apologize.
Return.
Love.

Those choices became the inheritance he intended to give his son.
