Chapter 10 - The Press Conference

Trevor went public.

He posted a long statement online portraying himself as the victim of a controlling wealthy wife.

He claimed I'd financially abused him.

He said I'd weaponized my corporate resources.

He implied the investigation existed because I had influence.

Within hours, strangers were discussing my marriage online.

Some believed him.

Some didn't.

My communications director called.

"Do we respond?"

"No."

Evelyn agreed.

"Evidence doesn't improve because you argue about it online."

So I went to work.

That silence drove Trevor crazy.

He gave an interview to a gossip channel.

Then another.

Each time, his story changed.

First, we'd been separated for a year.

Then eighteen months.

Then "emotionally separated."

Then he claimed I knew about Hailey.

Hailey responded publicly with exactly four sentences.

She acknowledged the affair.

Apologized for her role.

Denied knowing the divorce paperwork was false.

And confirmed she was cooperating with investigators.

Trevor's narrative began collapsing under its own contradictions.

Then something unexpected happened.

Former employees of his fitness startup contacted investigators.

One had records.

Another had emails.

A third had invoices.

Trevor hadn't only lied to me.

He had allegedly been misleading investors about the financial condition of his company.

The family drama had opened a door.

May you like

Behind it was an entire hallway.

And Trevor had left the lights on.
