Chapter 13 - The Courtroom Photograph

Months later, a photographer captured Daniel entering court alone.

The image spread online.

People paired it with photographs from his wedding.

Groom smiling.

Groom reading envelope.

Groom entering court.

I hated the spectacle.

Real lives had become entertainment.

So I posted only once.

No names.

No accusations.

A photograph of Lily holding my finger.

The caption:

Some inherit names. Others inherit courage. I know which one I hope to give my daughter.

The post traveled farther than anything from the wedding.

Messages arrived from women who had been abandoned after childbirth.

Women whose husbands hid money.

Women whose daughters had been treated as less valuable than sons.

I couldn't answer everyone.

But I read them.

For the first time, I realized my story had become bigger than revenge.
