Chapter 9 - The Nurse Who Disappeared
Elena vanished at 6:12 a.m.
Her phone was found beside the estate gate.
Nico ignored every medical restriction.
“Find her.”
Gabriel had never seen him like this.
Not furious.
Terrified.
Security footage revealed Elena leaving voluntarily.
Then Gabriel found the note.
DON’T FOLLOW ME. THEY HAVE NOAH’S DOCTOR.
Nico crushed the paper.
“She traded herself.”
Gabriel nodded.
“To protect the physician.”
“And Noah.”
“Yes.”
Nico closed his eyes.
The woman who refused his money had offered her life without hesitation.
He understood then.
Elena Hart could not be bought.
But she would sacrifice herself for almost anyone.
Which made her braver than him.
And far easier to destroy.
Nico picked up his coat.
Gabriel blocked him.
“You’re injured.”
“Move.”
“You could die.”
Nico looked at him.

“Then make sure I die after we find her.”
For the first time in twenty years, Gabriel disobeyed no further.
