Chapter 14 - The Name on the Door

Evelyn reopened her flower shop after renovations.
The break-in had damaged more than furniture.
For months, she had hated being there alone.
So Lily began helping two afternoons a week.
Eventually two became four.
Then Lily developed an idea.
A small consulting service helping people organize personal financial records independently.
Nothing legal.
Nothing dramatic.
Just practical organization.
Accounts.
Documents.
Emergency contacts.
Ownership records.
Things she wished she had understood earlier.
She called it Clear House.
Evelyn offered her the empty office upstairs.
Lily put her name on the door.
LILY CARTER.
Not Whitmore.
The divorce wasn't final yet.
But she had legally restored her birth name.
Evelyn touched the lettering.
"You okay?"
Lily smiled.
May you like
"Yeah."
For once, the answer was true.
