They chose a small ceremony.
No press.
No business celebrities.
Only people who had survived the storm with them.
Marcus served as Jackson's best man.
Evelyn cried before the ceremony even started.
Emily wore a simple ivory gown.
When Jackson saw her, another memory returned.
Emily once asking:
“What if you forget me someday?”
His old answer came back.
“Then make me fall in love with you again.”
Jackson almost laughed at the cruelty and beauty of it.
She had.
At the altar, Emily whispered:
“You remember something.”
“How do you know?”
“Your face.”
He leaned closer.
“I once promised that if I forgot you, you'd make me fall in love with you again.”
Emily's eyes filled.
“I remember.”
“You kept your side of the promise.”
“So did you.”
They married beneath warm lights while the people who loved them watched.
No threats arrived.
