Chapter 18 - Another Wedding

Hailey's second walk toward an altar looked nothing like Vegas.
No secrets.
No stolen husband.
No photographs designed to hurt someone.
When she reached Ryan, she turned toward me.
For one second, we were children again.
Two sisters.
One always told to give.
One always taught to take.
We couldn't rewrite those years.
But we could refuse to repeat them.
After the ceremony, Hailey hugged me.
"I love you."
"I love you too."
Then she whispered:
"I'm sorry."
"I know."
This time, those words were enough.
Across the reception lawn, Nathan waited for me.
Not impatiently.
Not possessively.
Just waiting.
I walked toward him.
May you like
And realized I had finally stopped walking away from my own happiness.
