Chapter 8 - The Photo That Went Viral

I never intended for anyone outside our families to know about the anniversary dinner.
Then Rachel posted one photograph.
No names.
No details.
Just me standing beside Hailey's high chair in my red dress.
Her caption read:
Sometimes losing the person who betrayed you is how you find yourself again.
By morning, thousands of people had shared it.
Women began commenting with their own stories.
Betrayal.
Divorce.
Starting over.
Motherhood.
One comment stayed with me.
I stayed because I was afraid my children needed the marriage more than they needed a peaceful mother. I was wrong.
I read it three times.
Then another:
My husband cheated when our baby was two months old. I thought my life was over. Ten years later, I own a bakery and my daughter thinks I'm the strongest person alive.
I didn't feel strong.
But maybe strength wasn't a feeling.
Maybe it was simply what you did after you discovered you had no other choice.
Then Liam saw the post.
And called.
"Take it down."
"Rachel posted it."
"Tell her."
"Why?"
"Everyone knows it's about me."
"No names are mentioned."
"They know."
"Then maybe that's because they know what you did."
He hung up.
Ten minutes later, another message arrived.
You're enjoying humiliating me.
I stared at it.
Then deleted nothing.
Saved everything.
Documented everything.
Because I had finally learned the difference between revenge and refusing to hide someone else's behavior.
May you like
And Liam was about to learn it too.
