Chapter 15 - Harper Walks Into the Lion’s Den
Vincent discovered the transmitter.
He crushed it.
Harper's heart sank.
Then he revealed his plan.
He would kill her and frame Luca.
Gabriel would retaliate.
The city would tear itself apart.
“You think men like Gabriel can change?” Vincent asked.
“Yes.”
“Why?”
“Because he already has.”
Vincent struck her.
Harper fell.
Then the warehouse lights died.
Gunfire erupted outside.
Gabriel's voice came through the darkness.
“Harper!”
She had never been happier to hear anyone.
Gabriel, Matteo and Luca entered from three directions.
Vincent fled toward the docks.
Gabriel caught him.
For one terrible moment, Harper saw the old Gabriel return.
Gun raised.
Finger tightening.
Vincent smiled.
“Do it. Show her what you are.”
Gabriel looked at Harper.
Then lowered the weapon.
Police sirens approached.
“No,” Gabriel said. “I'll show her what I'm becoming.”
