Lucille admitted the financial deception privately.
But she refused to apologize.
“I protected this family.”
Sofia looked at her.
“You protected yourself.”
“I kept businesses alive.”
“You destroyed my mother.”
“Elena was weak.”
Rafael stepped forward.
“No. She was isolated.”
Lucille looked at him.
“What's the difference?”
“People like you.”
For once, Lucille had no response.
But Emmett did.
