Chapter 11 - The Wedding Invitation

Their wedding invitation arrived six months later.

On the envelope, Trevor had written:

No hosting duties required. Promise.

I laughed harder than I expected.

The wedding was small.

During his toast, Trevor surprised everyone.

He thanked Caroline.

Then Mom.

Then he looked at me.

"My sister taught me something I should've learned a long time ago. Love doesn't give you unlimited access to another person's life."

Mom lowered her eyes.

Trevor continued.

"Sometimes respecting someone means standing outside the gate until they invite you in."

Nobody except our family understood the reference.

We did.

May you like
