Chapter 13 - The Family Meeting

My aunt Margaret wanted Mom moved into stricter care.

Linda thought she could remain where she was.

Daniel wanted professional guidance.

Everyone had an opinion.

For once, I refused to let guilt make the decision.

We met with Mom's medical and care team.

We discussed safety.

Independence.

Supervision.

Quality of life.

Mom attended too.

Because this was her life.

She deserved a voice wherever she could safely have one.

“I want to keep choosing things,” she said.

The sentence silenced everyone.

So we created a plan that protected her without erasing her.

It wasn't perfect.

But families rarely get perfect choices.
