Chapter 12 - STELLA FINALLY SPOKE

Stella gathered the family.
Her mother tried to stop her.
She refused.
She placed the phone on the table.
The messages documented loans, forged paperwork and repeated attempts to hide withdrawals.
Mr. Adamu read them silently.
When he finished, he removed his wedding ring.
Mrs. Adamu gasped.
"I'm not saying our marriage is over," he said. "But the lies are."
He insisted she cooperate with Clara's lawyer and repay whatever could legally be recovered.
Mrs. Adamu agreed.
Then Stella did something harder.
She apologized to Clara.
"I lived in that house while you were treated like a servant."
"You helped me."
"Not enough."
Clara hugged her.
"You were a kid trapped between adults."
Stella cried.
Their relationship survived.
That mattered more to Clara than the money.
Then Daniel called with good news.
The protected portion of Clara's trust was accessible.
Her father's rental property still belonged to her.
She could move into it after the current lease ended.
Clara smiled.
A home.
Her own home.
But Daniel had one more surprise.
May you like
Her father had recorded a video shortly before his death.
And it was addressed directly to Clara.
