Chapter 18 - THE BABY WHO BROUGHT THE TRUTH HOME

Two months later, Clara went into labor.
Ethan stayed beside her.
Stella paced the hospital corridor.
Richard arrived.
Mr. Adamu came shortly afterward.
Mrs. Adamu waited quietly at the end of the hallway.
Hours later, a nurse emerged.
"Mother and baby are doing well."
Everyone cried.
Clara gave birth to a healthy baby girl.
She named her Grace.
When Stella entered, she whispered:
"She's beautiful."
Ethan kissed Clara's forehead.
Richard cried openly.
Mr. Adamu held the baby and whispered an apology to his late brother.
Then Mrs. Adamu remained outside.
She didn't assume she was welcome.
Clara noticed.
"Where is she?"
Stella understood.
She brought her mother in.
Mrs. Adamu stopped near the doorway.
Clara looked at her.
"Come closer."
She did.
Clara carefully placed Grace into her arms.
Mrs. Adamu immediately began sobbing.
"I'm sorry."
Clara watched her.
"For what?"
"For everything."
Clara looked at her daughter.
"Then help us make sure she grows up in a family where nobody uses silence as punishment."
Mrs. Adamu nodded.
"I promise."
Clara smiled.
It wasn't a magical restoration.
Trust still needed time.
But something had changed.

Grace wasn't being born into a perfect family.
She was being born into one finally willing to tell the truth.
